Are You a Warrior or a Worrier?

If you’re a born-again believer, it’s time to start living like a warrior of Christ, not a worrier of the world. With the rise of prophetic revelations concerning End Times, it’s easy to sit back and “watch the world burn,” but that’s not what our role as Christians is. Since we are seeing more and more signs regarding the book of Revelation, we should be standing firm in the Spirit and guiding lost souls with our steadfast faith!

The sixth seal in the Book of Revelation is recorded in Revelation 6:13: “And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its unripe figs when it is shaken by a strong wind.” The asteroid Apophis is set to come close to Earth on April 13, 2029. While NASA and MIT claim that the asteroid won’t impact our planet, it hasn’t been seen since 2021 and won’t reappear until 2027. A slight deviation of the asteroid’s path could be catastrophic to Earth. While this particular asteroid may not be the fulfillment of the sixth seal, we are witnessing more larger-than-life signs from space, as Apophis will “make the closest known approach to Earth of any large asteroid this decade.”

Mike Thompson’s new book, The Lion’s Army, addresses concerns and provides clarity about the Last Days: “When the Lord told me to teach the ways of the Spirit for the last days, I was surprised and several questions arose in my mind. I had a pretty good grasp on what the Scriptures say about the last days, and I realized that most people associate them purely with the return of the Lord and many tribulation-type events. However, much confusion surrounds these prophetic matters.

My visions of the Lion’s army revealed the demonic wickedness behind a host of troubling things happening in the United States and the world. The escalation of Marxism, Communism, socialism, atheism, and militant Islam is ripping apart the fabric of our country. Add to those deviant sexual beliefs, gender distortion, trans activism, and surgical mutilation of children’s bodies to affirm their emotional confusion.

Instead of believing all people are created equal in the sight of God, race politics and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) have caused unparalleled division. Meanwhile, we are seeing the most intense persecution of Christians and Jews in several generations. Mix all these elements together, and you have a level of cultural insanity and confusion that leads to hopelessness and despair.

In such an environment, it’s easy to assume that these are the days preceding the Lord’s return. Because of this, some believers have given themselves over to fear. Some become silent and inactive in their faith. They succumb to the false notion that things will only get worse and there is nothing they can do. ‘Why even try?’ they ask, as though spiritual laws don’t even work anymore. At the same time, other believers become more zealous in their soul winning, wanting to take as many people to heaven with them as they can, while they still can.

Once again, I inquired of the Lord, and He dropped His answer into my spirit: ‘As we get closer to My return, the ways of the Holy Spirit will not change. They remain consistent through all the ages.’

There was the key! I now knew what the Lord was asking of me, and I knew what to pursue. Let me explain. In the Bible, Jewish teachers divided time into two basic parts. The first is the former time, which consisted of everything before and leading up to the appearance of the Messiah. The last days are the second part; they began during the time of the Messiah and include the future prophetic times and events that will occur with the second coming of Jesus. We have been living in the last days for over two thousand years.

We typically recognize time in terms of the Old and New Testaments. This is illustrated by the writer to the Hebrews, who wrote, ‘God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds’ (Heb. 1:1–2). Of course, His Son, Jesus Christ, is the Messiah, whose appearance and message triggered the last days. The last days include the time of salvation, or what we call the church age.

They began with Jesus’ birth but were fully revealed during the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. The last days will continue until the second return of the Lord. Luke covered this idea. (Read Acts 2:16-21).

This means that everyone who was alive during the original day of Pentecost and everyone who was born since then has lived (or is living) in the last days. It also means that the Holy Spirit has been given to manifest His ways, which have been consistent during the entire span of these last days.

Technically, we are living in the last days now. You may ask, ‘Aren’t things going to get worse as we get closer to the Lord’s return?’ Paul did indicate that this is probably true. (Read 2 Timothy 3:1-5).

Paul also wrote, ‘Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons’ (1 Tim. 4:1). He knew that during the entire span of the last days, some people would be blasphemous lovers of themselves. However, in this case, he seems to be referring to the last days of the last days.

Peter also picked up on the theme of the last days by warning ‘that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts’ (2 Pet. 3:3). Both Paul and Peter heard prophetic warnings from the Holy Spirit and foretold what were still future events to them. Peter wrapped up that portion of his second letter by writing, ‘But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night’ (2 Pet. 3:10).

Yes, things will get worse before the Lord’s return, but His return ‘will come as a thief in the night,’ meaning no one knows when it will happen. Matthew touched on the timing of Jesus’ return when he wrote that Jesus said, ‘Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming’ (Matt. 25:13). The Lord would have us focus on learning the ways of the Spirit rather than the evil in the world. We see what Satan is doing around us, but we need to also see what Jesus is doing through His church. At no point will the Lion’s army be powerless. God has raised a fighting force to meet the demonic challenges of this day, and His army will only become larger and better trained in the days ahead.

I want to close with two final points. First, we don’t know which tribulation of these last days will precede the Lord’s return. No one knows the day or the hour, and hard times don’t necessarily point to anything other than Satan working wickedness in humanity. My good friend and late Messianic rabbi Rich Ford said something to me years ago that affected my thinking. He said there is a difference between how Gentile Christians and Jewish Christians view the trials of the last days. Gentile believers try to judge whether Jesus is coming back by how difficult the times seem. Jewish believers don’t do this because Jewish people have suffered so much throughout history. Dr. Ford said that Messianic survivors of Hitler’s death camps during WWII couldn’t fathom anything being worse. If the Holocaust wasn’t the sign of Christ’s imminent return, then Christians need to quit looking for the end of the world and instead stand against the evil of the day. The Lord will return when the Father tells Him to return.

My second point is that the ways of the Spirit will not change or diminish as the Lord’s return draws closer. Spiritual laws remain constant. The power in the church will stay the same as it continues to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth. Because we serve Him and trust His design for our future, the mysteries of God will keep unfolding before us.

Our attitude then is one of faith and authority. Regardless of the world’s ups and downs, following the ways of the Spirit will provide the best life possible—and it will empower us to continue the fight against evil until the hour of Jesus’ return.”
